Hello TXCSS members!!

And congratulations on making it through the 5,627 days of January (or so it feels like)! We hope you all stayed warm and safe! January can feel like the longest teaching days of the year…even when you get those impromptu weather days.

2026 is an exciting year as we celebrate the 250th BIRTHDAY of the UNITED STATE OF AMERICA! Across the nations, groups are making plans to reflect on the nation’s history, honor diverse American stories, and foster a commitment to democracy’s future. The TXCSS organization would like to help support our members with our next TEACHER TUESDAY.

On the second Tuesday of every month a webinar will be held to offer professional learning opportunities. We will have expert historians, teachers, and social studies organizations share content knowledge, pedagogy practices, and more. It will be a chance to learn from the best in the field! We hope everyone can join us!!

Our next TEACHER TUESDAY on February 10 from 6pm to 7:30pm will be presented by the Bill of Rights Institute.

America 250: Declaration of Independence Resources from the Bill of Rights Institute

• In this interactive webinar, participants will learn about a variety of resources to effectively teach the Declaration of Independence as well as the impact of the Declaration of Independence up through today. Resources for grades 4-12 will be discussed with teaching ideas applicable to all grade levels.
